(KNSI) – A man is accused of climbing into a train in Sauk Rapids and attacking the engineer with a knife.

Police say around 8:15 on Tuesday morning, a 42-year-old man climbed onto a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Train as it slowed down near the intersection of Benton Drive and 1st Avenue North.

Police say the victim was able to escape by jumping from the train as it was moving. The train rolled to a stop a couple of miles away in Sartell.

The 42-year-old suspect was found near the incident scene and arrested. The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
