(KNSI) – The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association has endorsed St. Cloud lawmaker Tama Theis for State Senate.
Theis says rising crime isn’t just a Minneapolis problem. It’s a statewide problem. She is proposing new sentencing guidelines to make criminals accountable. She also supports more training, higher pay, and loan forgiveness to help bring more people into law enforcement and retain good cops.
MPPOA Executive Director Brian Peters said, “Theis is an extraordinary supporter of first responders and public safety officials and stands against attempts to defund and dismantle the police. She will always promote public safety proposals that keep communities safe. On behalf of the largest public safety association in Minnesota, we are proud to support Tama Theis for State Senate and recognize her efforts.”
The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association represents Minnesota’s more than 10,000 public safety officials who hold active law enforcement licenses. Members include police officers, correctional officers, dispatchers, and firefighters. The MPPOA is the largest association representing public safety professionals in the State of Minnesota.
Theis has served the St. Cloud area in the Minnesota House of Representatives since 2013.
