Sports Wrap: Sartell-Apollo and ROCORI-Tech Play Each Other In Three Sports; Cathedral Wins in Volleyball, Soccer

High School Volleyball

Cathedral 3, Pierz 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-13): The Crusaders improve to 6-6 with a dominant performance. Kayla Sexton picked up 12 kills and 13 digs. Olivia Prom had an excellent all-around game. She led the team with six aces and 12 set assists, while also chipping in nine digs and three kills. Ellie Klinefelter had five kills, followed closely by Emily Budde with four. Cammy Sand added 10 set assists.

Sartell 3, Apollo 0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-9): A balanced Sabres team added to their lead in the Central Lakes Conference with a two-point victory over Apollo in straight sets. Ellie Rengel had four aces and nine kills. Jocelyn Simones and Grace Schulte both snuck in three aces. Brenna McClure slammed down eight kills. The front line was anchored by Courtney Stutsman and Kylie Scoles with three blocks apiece.

Boys’ Soccer

Cathedral 8, St. John’s Prep 1: The Crusaders bounce back from their first loss of the season with an easy victory. Jack Stang had three goals for the Crusaders.

Fergus Falls 7, Sauk Rapids-Rice 2: Khang My Phan and Sam Olmscheid scored for the Storm. Notching assists were Josh Tapio and Leif Rudnick. Tapio, the goaltender, secured 10 saves on 17 shots.

Girls’ Soccer

Cathedral 7, St. John’s Prep 2: Hope Schueller scored four times in only 68 minutes on the pitch for the Crusaders. Ava Schmidt added two. Kiera Green and Callie Jerzak each had two assists.

Sartell 6, Apollo 0: Reese Kloetzer picked up four goals in the Sabre win.
