(1-1) Cathedral 14, (0-2) Foley 12: The Crusaders survived a hard-fought battle against the Falcons on the campus of St. John’s University. The Crusaders’ Tate Buckentine carried it in from six yards out, reaching the ball across the goal line with 7:40 remaining.
Royalton 26, (0-2) Holdingford 0: The Huskers were held to under 200 yards of total offense. Holdingford’s Drew Lange was 12-24 through the air for 107 yards and one interception. He found Ryder Petersen, Masyn Patrick, and Tanner Tomasek three times each. Brandon Hall and Justin Anderson chipped in two catches. No player had more than 30 yards receiving. Luke Bieniek and Connor Patrick led the Husker ground game. They combined for 66 yards.
(2-0) Milaca 20, (1-1) Albany 7: The Wolves tallied two touchdowns in the third quarter. A QB keeper was the deciding score from about four yards out. Milaca added a 10-yard run on an isolation play featuring the tailback with roughly 4:30 left in the frame. The Huskies were kept off the scoreboard after the intermission.
(2-0) Sauk Rapids-Rice 29, (0-3) Tech 7: The Storm started with a thunder clap, racing out to a 16-0 lead. Broden Flakne rumbled in from five yards out, plus a point-after kick. On 4th down, quarterback Jack Klein found Max Loesch for the 24-yard touchdown reception. Loesch had four catches on the night. St. Cloud Tech blocked a short field goal attempt and took over at their own one. The Storm defense poured it on, nabbing Tiger quarterback Connor Harnes for the safety on a play action pass attempt. Keegan Patterson replaced Klein as SR-R QB and figured into the second half scoring. Tech’s Jackson Sheets took a sweep 28 yards to the house late for the home team’s only score.
(1-2) Apollo 27, Big Lake 14: The Eagles opened up the home portion of the 2022 campaign with a win against Big Lake. Apollo’s offense had been shut out through the first two weeks, but they secured four scores Friday night.
(3-0) ROCORI 29, (1-2) Sartell 14: ROCORI tight end Evan Acheson finally finds the scoresheet, hauling in a 17-yard touchdown catch up the seam with 8:27 left in the first quarter. Acheson was responsible for 50 yards of offense on the opening drive for the Spartans. Receiver Adam Langer collected a 52-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Spanier on 3rd and 8. Langer dragged a defensive back 11 yards into the end zone on the play with 8:25 remaining in the second. The Spartans added two more scores to lead 29-0. Sartell’s Gavin Schulte found paydirt on a 4-yard run in the fourth quarter to open the scoring for the visiting Sabres.
