(KNSI) – Coaches and athletic directors are encouraged to send results to news@knsiradio.com. All scores are for Thursday’s games.

High School Football

Pierz 28, Holdingford 14: The Huskers went into intermission knotted at 14 with the Pioneers. Pierz was able to pull away late with two fourth quarter scores.

Holdingford quarterback Drew Lange was 13-23 for 148 yards. He didn’t find the end zone and was picked once. Lange connected with Masyn Patrick three times totaling 41 yards. Tanner Tomasek caught two for 37 yards. Luke Bieniek, Connor Pattrick, Brandon Hall, and Justin Anderson all had at least one reception.

The Huskers’ leading rushers were Bieniek and Patrick, each gaining 44 yards from scrimmage on the ground. Bieniek and Lange scored the Holdingford touchdowns.

Pierz got two touchdowns from Kirby Fischer. Reese Young scampered for a 75-yard scoring run, part of 148 yards on the ground. The Pioneers notched a big special teams play, as Derek Stangl took a kickoff 99 yards to the house.

New London-Spicer 26, Cathedral 12: The Crusaders found pay dirt thanks to a three-yard run by Max Bastian and a 61-yard connection through the air from quarterback Trevor Fleege to Jacob Eickhoff.

The game was tied 12-12 at half time but Wildcats running back Mason Delzer was just getting started. He punched it in from one yard out in the third quarter and four yards away in the final frame providing the cushion for NLS.

Albany 53, Holy Family 7: It was a complete effort for the Huskies offense. Quarterback Carter Voss was a perfect 5-5 for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

The Huskies hammered it out on the ground 35 times, averaging 8.5 yards per carry as a team. Four separate players recorded a rushing touchdown as they combined for 299 yards.

Zimmerman 41, Annandale 13: The Thunder lived up to their name with several explosive offensive plays. Zimmerman scored on a 60-yard pass from Brock Snow to Caden Spence, an 81-yard trick pass play from running back Landen Racho to Hunter Dipprey, and two hefty runs. Caden Spence went in from 94 yards out and 58 yards out respectively.

High School Volleyball

Alexandria 3, St. Cloud Tech 1 (18-25, 20-25, 25-9, 21-25): The Cardinals stay perfect on the season with a four-set win against the Tigers in what was an entertaining match heard on KNSI.

Alexandria took advantage of scoring runs to start the first two sets and then hung on to take the frames. They led 7-0 early in the opening stanza and 6-0 in the second. The cushions were wide enough that every time Tech made a run, Alex had an answer.

The Cardinals sat several starters for most of the third frame and the Tigers came to life, with Maddie Baker acting as a catalyst off the bench. Tech won 25-9, setting the stage for a back and forth fourth.

Grace Ciarocchi dominated at the net for Tech and freshman Miracle Jensen secured several service points to fuel a rally. Tech took the lead 17-16 but almost got too excited. A Jensen service error, followed by a couple of unforced errors on attempted kills gave Alex a 20-17 lead. The three consecutive faults all went long, past the baseline in the Cardinal end.

Miracle Jensen was named the All-Star Trophy Player of the Game.

St. Cloud Tech is now 0-2 with losses to Alex and Brainerd.

Fergus Falls 3, St. Cloud Apollo 0 (10-25, 23-25, 16-25): Apollo coach Michaela Laudenbach says Kate O’Hara was stout defensively with 11 digs. Ella Stanoch had eight set assists, nine digs, and three kills. The Eagles’ Brook Grossinger notched seven set assists, six digs, and five kills.

Apollo falls to 0-2.

Sartell 3, Brainerd 1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 25-21): Ella Gainsforth recorded 12 kills, followed closely by Abby Haus with 11 and Ellie Rengel’s 10. Briehyn Lewandowski scored three aces.

Avery Templin was exceptional on the back row with 28 digs. Setter Grace Schulte contributed 24 assists.

Sartell evens its record at 1-1.

No score was reported for ROCORI at Sauk Rapids-Rice.

Mohamed Ibrahim averaged 6.3 yards per carry, sprinting for 132 yard total with two TD’s. Treyson Potts had one on the ground and quarterback Tanner Morgan secured two. Morgan was efficient through the air, as well. He tossed 13 completions in 19 attempts for 174 yards.
