(KNSI) – A St. Cloud lawmaker is being recognized by the National Federation of Independent Business. The organization has given Republican Representative Tama Theis the Guardian of Small Business Award.

The NFIB scores the voting record of legislators, comparing them to the wishes of its members. Theis got a perfect 100% rating. The award is given to a lawmaker who scores at least 80%.

“I am honored to be recognized for my efforts on behalf of Minnesota’s small business community,” said Theis. “I know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and after an incredibly hard few years for businesses, I am so proud to have stood up on their behalf in the Legislature.”

Taxes, mandates, and red tape are some of the issues business owners felt strongest about during the 2021-22 session, according to NFIB Minnesota State Director John Reynolds.

In July, Senator Jeff Howe or Rockville and Representative Lisa Demuth were also honored with the Guardian of Small Business Award.
