(KNSI) – Sartell says it needs another hotel.
The city approved a report at Monday night’s council meeting which calls for a 70 to 90-room building all-suite, upscale, chain-affiliated hotel.
Sartell City Administrator Anna Gruber told the council that people coming to the area for competitions and family events has increased demand.
“With the leisure side, we saw an 11% increase. We can attribute that to Pine Cone Central Park. You’ve got the tournament there, St. Cloud Orthopedics, Scheels Arena, just a higher demand for those leisure and athletic activities. And then, of course, our wedding venues like Mulligans and Blackberry. We have a lot of weddings out of the community center as well.
The report predicts a 67% occupancy. Gruber told the council what is next.
“And then, our next steps would be to enlist this out with our development team to share with developers in hopes of being able to recruit and work collaboratively with a hotel.”
The goal is for a hotel to be built and opened by June 2024.
The hotel study started in June. The report was put together by Everything Sartell, the Convention & Visitors Bureau and Economic Development advisory committee.
