(KNSI) – A White Bear Lake native is inspiring the next generation by sharing his story as an astronaut.
Josh Cassada and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, along with representatives from NASA, presented to the Bell Museum summer camp program on Tuesday. Cassada said he is envious of the kids because their whole life is ahead of them, which means whatever they dream about is still a possibility.
“I get to live vicariously through all you kids there in the auditorium, and I’m excited to see what you guys pull off,” Cassada said.
Klobuchar told them about the state’s rich history of innovation, from Post-It Notes to medical breakthroughs.
“Josh started out like so many of you, a kid from Minnesota who liked science. And in just a few weeks he’s going to chase that curiosity and that passion over 250 miles into outer space,” she said.
Cassada said he hopes he’ll get a chance to talk to the kids after he is done with his mission.
Cassada is part of Crew-5, flying to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX rocket in the fall.
