(KNSI) – Cold Spring City Council discussed finding a replacement for departing administrator Brigid Murphy at a workshop meeting on Monday. Several members are considering reducing the responsibilities that come with the job. Murphy says revamping the position was one of the primary points of discussion at the workshop.
“They talked about the position. They talked about the job description. They talked about [how] there’s too much on the plate of the city administrator.”
She says the group decided against retaining David Drown Associates to assist with the search after she leaves on the 25th. Instead, requests for proposal will be solicited from several executive hiring firms, with an eye toward reforming the position’s job duties.
“We had discussions about whether some of the work could be done through contracting with people that do things like planning and zoning or economic development and assist the city [in] that way.”
The RFPs are due on September 8th. The cities of Richmond, Cold Spring, and Rockville have all had administrators step down this year.
