(KNSI) – Coffee lovers in central Minnesota have a reason to rejoice.

Plans are underway for the first annual Cloud Coffee Fest in September. Taylor Feero, with Kinder Coffee Lab, says St. Cloud area breweries were the inspiration for the event.

“Roasters and coffee shops are making really good coffee. We want to embrace the community aspect that breweries did and embrace each other’s companies, and grow together.”

He says beer makers weren’t trying to compete against each other but instead embraced the industry. Feero feels the time is right for Minnesota coffee makers to unite similarly, and Coffee Fest is the start.

He says tastes have evolved in the region in recent years. The event is a chance to show off what area shops are doing.

“St. Cloud is really doing a good job of starting to produce really good coffee. Our hope, our goal, is for this event to be an all-in-one place where you can come and you can enjoy St. Cloud and Greater St. Cloud’s best coffee.”

The event is free to attend and will include a bouncy house, kids’ activities, games, and face painting. Coffee, pastries and merchandise will be available for purchase.

Seven coffee shops have committed to the event. They are Adventure Coffee MN, Backwards Bread Company, Cold Press Cafe, Kinder Coffee Lab, Korppi Coffee and Bakeshop, Overlander Coffee Company and Second Street Coffeehouse.

Cloud Coffee Fest is on September 24th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Kinder Coffee Lab parking lot, 203 Cooper Avenue North, St. Cloud.
