(KNSI) — The third suspect wanted in connection to a quadruple shooting in St. Cloud last month is in custody.
Twenty-eight-year-old Daquan Ledbetter was arrested in Chippewa County after a standoff Friday night. The U.S. Marshals Service tracked Ledbetter to a home in Dawson. Members of the Marshals Service, Dawson Police Department, Lac Qui Parle Sheriff’s Department, the West Central SWAT team, and the CEE-VI Drug and Gang Task Force worked to get Ledbetter into custody after he allegedly refused to come out of the home for more than three hours. He eventually surrendered without further incident. No one was hurt.
Jail records show he was booked into the Stearns County jail on Monday. Ledbetter is charged with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of illegally possessing a firearm in connection to the July 6th shooting. The shooting left four people injured.
According to court documents filed in Stearns County District Court, at 5:47 p.m. on July 6th, Ledbetter, Bryant Garth II, and Jamarcus Jamond Morris got out of a car that had driven up in an alley between 5th Avenue South and 6th Avenue South near 11th Street South and began shooting toward a group of people that were on 11th Street.
A 15-year-old boy was shot in the neck and shoulder. A 19-year-old man was shot in the elbow, and two 21-year-olds were shot. One was shot in the chest and the other in the head. Investigators say 33 cartridge casings or live rounds at the scene. Ammunition recovered included multiple brands of .9mm and .380 caliber.
Witnesses told police there was an assault at a gas station the day before the shooting. Investigators say messages were sent between the shooters and the victims, with one message sent from someone involved with the argument to one of the victims. The criminal complaint does not say if the messages contained any direct threats.
Bail for Ledbetter has not yet been set.
