(KNSI) – The Cold Spring Economic Development Authority is accepting applications for the Main Street Revitalization Grant Program through September 7th.

City Administrator Brigid Murphy says the group will review potential projects at a meeting on the 12th. The Initiative Foundation makes the final decision on which are approved and it wants everything wrapped up quickly.

“The Initiative Foundation would like them by October 1st. And as I understand it they want to be able to get it out as soon as possible.”

Murphy says the grants are specifically for new construction and other beautification projects.

“Some things that aren’t covered are operational costs. So, some people have asked if they could replace a refrigerator at a restaurant and that would not be something that they could do, but if they want to tear out the carpet or remodel that kind of stuff is allowed.”

The full range of approved projects includes “repair or renovation of existing properties new construction, demolition/site preparation/pre-design/design/engineering, landscaping or streetscaping, and private infrastructure installation.”
