(KNSI) — A 24-year-old Buffalo man is under arrest after his father was found shot to death at the family cabin.
According to the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, they were called to the cabin in Fleming Township on Wednesday, July 27th, by the brother of 62-year-old Daniel Bzdok. Bzdok was last heard from on Saturday, July 23rd, one day after he left for the cabin with his son. The brother told police he became concerned after several calls to Bzdok’s cell phone went unanswered. He said he went to check on his brother and found the door padlocked with no one around and no vehicles in sight.
Deputies arrived and began searching the property. When they looked in a window, they reportedly found Bzdok dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Bzdok’s son has been arrested, but no charges have been filed. Jail records show he was in custody as of Thursday in Wright County on unrelated charges, but a criminal complaint in that case shows he was arrested Saturday evening for drug possession and DWI. A .22 caliber Ruger MKII LR handgun was allegedly found in the vehicle.
KNSI does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged.
