(KNSI) — The window to apply for frontline worker pandemic bonus pay has closed, and almost twice as many Minnesotans as anticipated applied.
The Minnesota legislature had set aside $500 million for the bonus checks, and 667,000 workers in 15 frontline sectors would each get $750. That amount could be significantly smaller depending on how many of the nearly 1.1 million applications are accepted. The state is now reviewing the applications to determine eligibility.
Several reasons one could be denied include the amount of unemployment benefits they received, exceeding the maximum income guidelines, employment eligibility or identity can’t be verified, or someone submitted duplicate applications. Applicants will get an email letting them know if they were accepted or not. If an application is denied, there is an appeal process.
Payments are expected to go out this fall.
