(KNSI) — A 17-year-old is dead, and a 16-year-old was injured following a shooting in Minneapolis Tuesday evening.
A press release says at about 6:25; both teens were involved in a confrontation inside the lobby of an apartment building just south of downtown. They say the confrontation was between people who knew each other and that “guns were presented and shots were fired.”
The 17-year-old fled the scene and ran for about half a block before collapsing. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died. The other teen had potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was also taken to HCMC.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death and release the victim’s name.
This is the 45th homicide of the year in Minneapolis.
