(KNSI) – A homeless woman has been charged after allegedly trying to steal from a store in St. Cloud and assaulting the manager.

Morgen Cassandra Anderson is accused of walking into Westside Liquor on 4th Street Southeast in April and trying to steal a bottle of vodka. The store manager says she saw Anderson trying to leave the store and confronted her as she tried to escape. The manager says she stood in Anderson’s way to block her from leaving the store. She also told police as she confronted the 41-year-old Anderson and told her she needed to pay for the liquor before leaving, she hit her in the head with the bottle of vodka.

The victim says she hurt her hand when it got caught up in a bag Anderson was carrying and hurt her pinky finger. The criminal complaint says x-rays showed her finger had been broken during the scuffle.

Anderson was charged in Benton County District Court with third-degree assault and theft. Her bail was set at $10,000.
