(KNSI) – Engineers are taking public comment and will hold a meeting next week on plans to reroute Stearns County Highway 133 near Sartell.
County officials say the new section of County Road 133 would connect Theisen Road and 19th Avenue. There are seven proposed routes.
A realignment of County Road 133, between Pinecone Road and 19th Avenue, was started over ten years ago when the area around it was built up. County Road 133 ran along 6th Street South between 19th Avenue and Pinecone Road and along Pinecone Road between 6th Street South and 2nd Street South.
The area was absorbed into Sartell with plans for a more direct route between Pinecone Road and 19th Avenue. The meeting will help determine a final alignment between Theisen Road, where the new alignment currently dead ends, and 19th Avenue.
A previous study calls for a two-lane roadway in the area.
Engineers say the road is a minor arterial route used to move freight and traffic from Interstate 94 in St. Joseph to Highway 10/Highway 15 East in Sartell. Officials say the new road will be part of the Urban Belt Line Corridor.
The meeting will be on June 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Sartell City Hall. If you can’t make the meeting, you can email your comments to mstewart@srfconsulting.com.
