(KNSI) – St. Cloud is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony and block party for the new 5 Star Community Center on Saturday.

The event is from noon to 3:00 p.m. and will include live music and refreshments. The building will have space to help veterans, and for neighborhood safety programs and provide a dropbox for the Disabled American Veterans.

Sergeant Tad Hoeschen says there will be a temporary closure for the party.

“We are going to have 3rd Street North blocked off right in front of St. John Cantius church, just for those three hours. We’re not going to block any other businesses or anything there.”

He talked about some of the things taking place at the block party.

“Rock on Trucking is going to be there with a couple of their decorated up trucks. We’re hoping to have maybe a UAV demonstration from our police officers. We’ll have some officers there. There’ll be a ribbon cutting ceremony, we’ll give tours of the space.”

The 5 Star Community Center is a joint venture between the St. Cloud Police Department, St. Cloud Stand Down and Disabled American Veterans. The community center is in the 1500 block of 3rd Street North.
