(KNSI) – Families are encouraged to take their kids to Quarry Park for a special fun day Saturday.
Stearns County Parks is teaming up with community partners for the National Park Trust Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 21st.
There will be different activity stations throughout the park for kids. Plans for the event are still in the works. Kids will have a chance to learn about archery, being kind to our environment, the emergency weather alert system, fishing, geocaching, the granite industry, the Liberty Derrick, and macroinvertebrates like aquatic insects, worms, and dragonflies.
Kids to Parks Day encourages kids and families to get outside and create their own adventures. Officials say the day also gets young ones excited about the outdoors and helps develop the next generation of outdoor stewards. This year is the 12th anniversary of Kids to Parks Day.
Everyone can park for free that afternoon, thanks to a donation from Coborns and Scheels. Quarry Park is located at 1802 County Road 137, Waite Park, MN 56387.
