(KNSI) — After a large-scale, yearlong drug investigation, police in Cass County and several other agencies say they have made numerous arrests, seizing cash and methamphetamine.
According to a press release from Sheriff Tom Burch, agencies conducted traffic stops and executed search warrants specifically targeting meth. There have been four first-degree drug arrests, one second-degree drug arrest, one third-degree drug arrest, and eight fifth-degree drug arrests strung across multiple counties throughout the investigation. The case is ongoing, and charges are pending against more suspects in several counties.
Investigators say they have seized three pounds of meth and over $11,000 cash.
Throughout the investigation, they say a 35-year-old Hackensack man has been identified as the leader in several cases. Police say he used others to move the drugs from the Twin Cities to northern Minnesota to sell.
Numerous agencies are assisting in the investigations, including; the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Leech Lake Tribal Police Department, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Minnesota State Patrol, Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, and Crow Wing County Lakes Area Drug Investigation Division.
Sheriff Burch says many of these investigations start with an anonymous tip and encourages the public to submit tips and information to police through Crime Stoppers of Minnesota. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the website by clicking here or calling 1-800-222-8477.
