(KNSI) — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the 10-year-old boy shot to death in Minneapolis Friday night.
Amare Rashaun Mayberry-Campbell died due to a gunshot wound to the chest after he and another juvenile family member were left alone in a downtown Minneapolis apartment. The parents are reportedly cooperating. Minneapolis Police Public Information Officer Garret Parten said the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing but called for gun owners to secure their firearms, especially if there are children in the home.
A Go Fund Me has been set up to help the family with medical and funeral expenses. Mayberry-Campbell, of Andover, is described as being “full of life” and that the family’s “hearts are shattered.”
