(KNSI) – St. Cloud’s longest serving mayor will deliver his state of the city address on Tuesday. Dave Kleis will give his 17th speech to the community at the new city council chambers. Kleis was first elected mayor in 2005.
Kleis recently came back from a trip he takes to help him give the address.
“I don’t write out a speech. I go through concepts and need inspiration for that. And so my inspirations has always been the Hudson River in New York City. I usually walk from Time Square to the Hudson and walk almost all the way around beyond Battery Park, and you get that view of the Statue of Liberty.”
He’ll summarize recent progress in the Granite City and where the community is going.
“I’ll talk about what’s happened the last year. Where we’re at with some projects that are going on and lay out some other opportunities going forward.”
The mayor’s new initiatives will include information on honoring veterans, the budget, getting more workers into the community and the COVID response. Some of St. Clouds’ accomplishments include the formation of the St. Cloud Regional Airport Authority and the opening of the Amazon distribution center.
The state of the city address is pen to the public. The address will be held on April 19th at 12:30 p.m. inside the St. Cloud City Council Chambers. For those who can’t make it, the address will be broadcast on KNSI.
