An Emerging Tourism Star Is Born in Saint Cloud

(KNSI) — The head of Greater Saint Cloud, officially known as the Saint Cloud Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, is getting recognition from the destination promotion industry. Connect Travel has named Rachel Thompson an Emerging Tourism Star.

Thompson will be spotlighted at Connect Travel’s annual convention happening in the summer.

“They have invited me to be on their panel at their conference. So, they provide the ticket to that event and then, while I’m there, the panel, conversations, as well as breakouts and things, or opportunities.”

The eTourism Summit is scheduled for June in Orlando, FL.

Thompson says her name goes on the plaque as Executive Director of Greater St. Cloud, but it is truly a staff award. She remains humbled about the honor.

“It is for those astute individuals in a destination marketing organization, or an attraction that deals with e-tourism and the community of digital travel. As well as some of the challenges within everything we’ve been facing the last year, and creative ways to come out of it, as well as to market an organization.”

Only nine people were bestowed the Emerging Tourism Star award by Connect Travel. Thompson is the lone representative for a Midwest market.
