(KNSI) – A local watershed district is holding its 3rd Aquatic Invasive Species forum. The Clearwater River Watershed District will meet virtually over Zoom next Thursday, April 7th.
Officails say it’s a chance to get relevant, actionable information on preventing Aquatic Invasive Species. The forum will talk about available programs in Stearns, Wright and Meeker Counties. The discussion will focus on the lessons learned, examples of successful partnerships across the state and what’s happening locally.
Some of the biggest invasive species in central Minnesota include common carp and Starry Stonewort. Statewide there are 1,549 infested lakes and sections of rivers.
The Clearwater River Watershed District was recently recognized for its work in getting two lakes near South Haven removed from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s list of polluted waters.
