(KNSI) – Sauk Rapids residents have a week left to submit nominations for the citizen of the year award. Nominations for Sauk Rapids Citizen of the Year will be taken until April 4th.

According to a press release, any resident who’s served the Sauk Rapids community is eligible for the award. City officials say nominees may be active in faith-based or civic organizations, boards or commissions, community groups, or business activities. Candidates can also be leaders in human service work in the community or work diligently behind the scenes. Any resident 18 or older can be considered for their past and present community work.

The award will be presented at the April 25th city council meeting. The winner will serve as grand marshal for this year’s Rapids River Days parade.

Nomination Brochures can be picked up at the Sauk Rapids Government Center or downloaded here.

Last year’s winner was Steve Reese. The sheriff’s deputy was picked for his volunteer work with Cub Scout Pack 8, his character and his leadership.
