(KNSI) – One of many Freedom Convoys heading to Washington D.C. will come down Interstate 94 and stop in Stearns County. Freedom Convoy organizer Derek DePauw says the group left Minot on Thursday morning and will arrive in Sauk Centre around 8 p.m. He says the convoy will spend the night at the Truckers Inn and leave around 8:30 on Friday morning.
The convoy should pass through St. Cloud around 9:15 a.m. on Friday. Organizers are asking people to show their support by safely waving American flags as they drive through. At least eight trucks plan to head to Washington. Other civilians can join the convoy for small stretches or the whole way.
DePauw says the convoy will meet up with other truckers in Wisconsin and expect to arrive in Washington on Sunday evening or Monday morning. DePauw says there’s a convoy coming from every interstate in the country, and he expects around 15,000 trucks will park outside the nation’s capital. He says the convoy demands an end to all mandates and legislation barring the federal government from imposing nationwide mandates.
He says if their demands aren’t met, he doesn’t know what they’ll do next. DePauw says the convoy will be 100% peaceful, and he’s prepared to stay in Washington for two months.
