(KNSI) – St. Cloud is getting some help to tackle an invasive weed in a 43-acre park. St. Cloud has accepted $83,000 in grants from St. Paul-based nonprofit Great River Greening to remove buckthorn and restore native prairie at Heritage Regional Park.
The grant required a $5,000 local match for labor, equipment and material costs. The money will come from St. Cloud’s 2022 parks budget. Great River Greening will contract and pay for the necessary work.
The group got the money from the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources program. Acceptance of the grant was approved at this week’s city council meeting.
