(KNSI) – After several postponements, St. Cloud’s new city hall is ready for its open house.
St. Cloud mayor Dave Kleis tells KNSI the best thing about the new city hall is its history. Kleis says “It’s reusing a building. You’ve got a huge building and I’m a history guy. So I like to preserve the history of a building that’s over 100 years old. But I also don’t want a big empty building sitting in the middle of a neighborhood either. It’s part of a historic neighborhood.”
The city staff will start moving into the new office the week of March 7th, and as a result, city offices will be closed that week. Kleis says business can still be done online or by appointment. The Grand Opening is set for Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting, refreshments, and tours of the new building. Business will resume at the new city hall Monday, March 14th at 9:00 a.m.
Mayor Kleis says the current city hall is in the process of being sold, and a Bremer Bank and other businesses will occupy the space.
