(KNSI) – A woman was killed in a car crash after a teenager ran a stop sign near Zimmerman, according to law enforcement.

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says 68-year-old Frances Morinville was headed east on County Road 4 around 4:15 on Saturday afternoon when she was hit by a vehicle that ran a stop sign at County Road 19.

The Isanti woman was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies say the other driver, a 17-year-old from Elk River, was taken to the hospital, treated and released. An 18-year-old passenger with the teenager was also taken to the hospital, treated and released.

According to a press release, investigators did not detect any signs that alcohol was involved in the crash. Sherburne County Officials say they’re waiting for the results of a blood test before making any decisions on potential charges against the 17-year-old driver.
