(KNSI) — Blowing snow on Tuesday will give way to frigid temperatures on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for several counties including Benton, Kandiyohi, Meeker, Morrison, and Stearns. The wind chill advisory, which was in effect until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday is now in effect until noon.

Meteorologists say as the snow tapers off, wind chills as low as 35 below zero are expected in St. Cloud, Little Falls, Sauk Rapids, Long Praire, and Litchfield.

Authorities say the dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Officials say to plan on slippery road conditions and areas of blowing snow that could reduce visibility. A no travel advisory was issued for state and federal highways in Big Stone, Stevens, Swift, Traverse and Wilkin counties. That was lifted just before 6:00 a.m. Some roads may still be covered with snow and ice, so the Minnesota Department of Transportation says it’s important to still take it easy.
