(KNSI) – One of four defendants accused of murdering a woman in a car and dumping her body alongside a road in St. Cloud is pleading guilty to aiding and abetting first-degree murder.
Prosecutors in Stearns County District Court accepted the guilty plea of Alicia Lewis. In July, she was indicted by a grand jury for second-degree intentional murder, aiding and abetting first-degree murder, and aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to 40th Street South and Cooper Avenue South at 9:28 a.m. June 3rd. Police arrived to find the body of 25-year-old Keisa Lange. They say she was shot once in the back right-hand side of her head. Five shell casings from a .9mm handgun were also allegedly found near her body.
Prosecutors say 36-year-old Lewis was in a Ford Fusion with 26-year-old Kenneth Carter, 24-year-old Deantae Davis, and 33-year-year-old Angela Jones. They say Jones drove the group to where Lange’s body was found. Police say Davis allegedly shot Lange while she was in the back middle seat of the car, and Carter allegedly shot at Lange after she was taken out of the car.
Lewis pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting first-degree murder. She will be sentenced in October. As part of the plea deal, the other charges will be dropped.
Davis is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on March 21st. A jury trial is set for September. Carter will be back in court on March 25th. Jones has a hearing set for April 7th.
