(KNSI) — Officials with the Minnesota State Fair say they will be holding another kickoff event this year.

Last year, the fair board held a Kickoff to Summer at the Fair sponsored by Paddle North to get fairgoers excited about the 2021 Minnesota State Fair after it was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was such a success; it’s coming back for 2022. This year’s Kickoff to Summer at the Fair will run from May 26th through the 30th. The five day event will feature more than 30 popular State Fair food and beverage vendors, music, shopping, and family friendly fun at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Trivia Mafia will host games, and the iconic Giant Slide and other attractions will be open. Some attractions will have an additional nominal cost above admission prices.

State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer said in a press release Tuesday morning, “Last year’s Kickoff to Summer was even more popular than we had hoped it would be. People really enjoyed getting together for a little slice of the fair, and we’re happy to bring the event back this year.”

Admission is $12.50 per person. Kids under four are free. Admission will be limited to 15,000 ticket holders for seven daily timeslots. A lottery process will be used to randomly select people for an opportunity to purchase tickets with a limit of six tickets per person. Registration is open now through February 18th at 11:59 p.m. Register now and see the timeslots by clicking here.
