(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed several roads in northwestern Minnesota Friday morning.
MnDOT closed roads in about the northwestern third of the state, including Interstate 94 between Fergus Falls and the North Dakota border. Portions of Highway 2, Highway 9, Highway 10, Highway 32, Highway 34, Highway 75, Highway 108, Highway 200, and Highway 336 were shut down as high winds created blizzard conditions Friday morning. A blizzard warning was posted for the entire Red River Valley as visibility was down to zero up and down the Minnesota/North Dakota border.
Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow said dozens of vehicles and semis were in the ditch, but it was difficult to tell how many because visibility was so poor.
Around St. Cloud, roads were also covered with snow. The state patrol also reported crashes and spinouts around central Minnesota Friday morning.
