(KNSI) – Students from central Minnesota are competing at the Region 7 spelling bee next week. The 2022 Central Minnesota Regional Spelling Bee is Tuesday at the Resource Training & Solutions building in Sartell. Forty kids in grades 5-8 are participating. The competitors have already won a spelling bee at the school or district level.
The region includes school districts in Stearns, Benton, and Sherburne County. The spelling bee is split into two sessions. The first is in the morning and the second is in the afternoon. Two students will move onto the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee on February 22nd in Fergus Falls. The winners will move onto the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee, in Washington, D.C.
The national spelling bee is broadcast live on the ION channel. The spelling bee helps students improve spelling and vocabulary development, according to organizers.
