(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced the winners of the Name A Snowplow Contest.
In December, MnDOT received over 22,000 name suggestions for eight of its snowplows. The suggestions covered all of pop culture – from music with No More Mr. Ice Guy and Everyday I’m Shovelin’ to sports with Skol Plow and Coldy Gopher.
In January, MnDOT narrowed down the list to 50 and asked residents to vote for their favorite. The department received more than 50,000 votes.
The top eight vote-getters would be declared the winners and go on eight trucks – one for each MnDOT district. Betty Whiteout garnered over 40,000 votes, almost twice the number of the second-place finisher Ctrl Salt Delete. Rounding out the top eight, The Big Leplowski, Plowasaurus Rex, Blizzard of Oz, No More Mr. Ice Guy, and Edward Blizzardhands. District 3, which includes St. Cloud and the surrounding communities, will name their truck Scoop Dogg.
A list of each district’s winners can be found here.
