Third Suspect Sentenced For Kidnapping, Raping Woman at a St. Cloud park

(KNSI) – A man convicted of kidnapping a woman off a street in downtown St. Cloud and raping her has learned his fate. Mohamed Hassan Abdi was sentenced in Stearns County District Court to prison for 27 and a half years.

In December, a Stearns County judge found Mohamed Hassan Abdi guilty of aiding and abetting kidnapping, aiding and abetting first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

On October 18th, 2020, Abdi and two other men grabbed the victim while she was walking in the 700-block

of West St. Germain Street and sexually assaulted her as they drove around the city. The victim was eventually taken to Haws Park in south St. Cloud and raped on a slide.

The other two men convicted of the crime were already sentenced. Abdirahin Omar Ali was found guilty by a jury on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to 30 years in prison in December. Sahal Abdi Hassan pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct for his role and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in April 2021.
