(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect until noon Tuesday.

Forecasters say gusty west winds up to 45 miles an hour will blow around unsecured objects and warn that tree limbs could also snap and bring down power lines. Winds will also cause patchy blowing snow and reduced visibilities and slick spots in some areas.

The wind advisory is along a line from Hinckley through St. Cloud, down toward Hutchinson, through Mankato, and over to Rock County in the far southwestern part of the state. Toward Alexandria and Fergus Falls, there is a winter weather advisory in place and a blizzard warning with a no travel advisory issued for the far northwestern parts of the state.

The gusty winds are riding on a powerful cold front that will plunge Minnesota back into the deep freeze. A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9:00 Tuesday night to noon on Wednesday. Air temps will drop to 11 below, but gusty winds around 30 miles an hour will make it feel like it’s around 30 below zero at times.

The average temperature for the beginning of February in St. Cloud is around 20 degrees above zero. Air like that returns on Saturday.
