(KNSI) – A man has been arrested in connection to multiple reports of gunshots in St. Cloud over the weekend. Officers were called to a report of shots fired in the 600-block of 5th Street South. According to a press release from the St. Cloud Police Department, a witness had seen a man in a vehicle on 5th Street South shoot a handgun in the air several times while driving down the street. Officers responded but were not able to find the car. No damage or injuries were reported in this incident.

On Sunday, police were called to an apartment in the 700-block of 9th Avenue South for a possible shooting. Police say a similarly described suspect fired a gun inside the building the previous day. Police say it’s not believed that anyone was hurt; however, there was damage to the building from the gunfire.

The male suspect matched the suspect’s description from the shooting on 5th Street South and was seen leaving the scene in the exact vehicle as described in the previous shooting.

According to investigators, the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen. Investigators say they identified a 37-year-old Evan James Fasthorse of St. Cloud as a suspect. On Sunday at 2:25 a.m., officers learned Fasthorse was inside an apartment in the 2000 Block of 27th Street Southeast in St. Cloud.

Officers got a search warrant and the St. Cloud SWAT Team responded to assist. Several adjacent apartments in the complex were evacuated. At approximately 6:45 a.m., the SWAT Team executed the search warrant. Officers searched the apartment and arrested Fasthorse. He was taken to the Stearns County Jail without further incident.

Fasthorse also had an outstanding Department of Corrections warrant for his arrest and has a significant criminal history, including felony-level crimes of violence, according to police.

In Minnesota, he has prior convictions for assault, domestic assault, receiving stolen goods, being a felon in possession of a firearm, criminal damage to property, making terroristic threats, possession of drugs, and a felony-level DWI. He’s been arrested at least 16 times in Minnesota since 2002. The mugshot is from a prior arrest in Stearns County in 2017.
