(KNSI) — The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identifies the man killed in a drive-by shooting Thursday night in Minneapolis as 27-year-old Mahamed Hassan Mahamud of St. Cloud.

Investigators say Mahamud was sitting in a parked car when another vehicle pulled up alongside and opened fire before speeding away. Mahamud was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner says he died of multiple gunshot wounds and has ruled his death a homicide.

Two other people in that car were both hurt but were expected to survive.

According to Minneapolis Police spokesman Garret Parten, this was not random. It is believed the victims and the shooter knew each other.

No one has been arrested.
