(KNSI) — Governor Tim Walz has ordered flags to be flown at half staff to honor another first responder with ties to central Minnesota who has died in the line of duty.
A press release from the governor’s office says that Reverend Brian Alnes died on January 4th, 2022, due to complications from a medical condition obtained during a line of duty service. Reverend was a firefighter with the Crystal Fire Department. He also served as a first responder in Swanville. He served as a reserve chaplain for Morrison County and Todd County sheriff’s offices.
According to his obituary, Alnes was known as the “Pastor of Discomfort” because he was always helping people to get out of their comfort zones so they could meet Christ personally. He touched countless lives for Christ in his more than 31 years of ministry.
All state and U.S. flags at all state buildings in Minnesota will be flown at half staff from sunrise until sunset Saturday, January 22nd. A celebration of life for Reverend Alnes is set for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Buffalo Covenant Church.
Upsala Fire Captain Brian Lange died December 11th due to COVID-19 related exposure he received in the line of duty. Captain Andy Loso of the St. Joseph Volunteer Fire Department died in November also of a “medical condition obtained during line of duty service.”
