(KNSI) – The Minnesota State Fair will have some noticeable changes when the gates open in August.
The admission price will increase by a dollar for adults to $17. Admission for children between five and twelve and seniors 65 and older will pay $15. Kids under four still get in for free. Presale tickets are available for $13 each. Next month that increases to $14.
Another noticeable change will be the hours. The grounds used to be open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily. The gates will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. opening day, Thursday, August 25th through Sunday, September 4th. Labor Day hours are 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Minnesota State Fair board said they suffered a $1.3 million operating loss in 2021 after vendors and performers canceled ahead of opening day. Attendance was also down by almost 825,000 from 2019. The fair was canceled in 2020, causing a loss of $16.5 million.
