(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for a large chunk of the state, including the five-county St. Cloud area.
The advisory is in effect until 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Meteorologists say as the snow tapers off, arctic cold temperatures will take over. Overnight air temps will be in the teens below zero with wind chill values of 25 to 35 below.
Officials say the dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. If you’re going to be out and about, experts say to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves. If you’re traveling any distance, drivers are encouraged to keep an emergency winter weather kit in their car.
