(KNSI) — The National Weather Service says the St. Cloud area got 4.5 inches of snow from 6:00 a.m. Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday with this latest wintery blast.
The snow started falling Sunday evening as a storm system moved through the Upper Midwest. The snow continued falling through Monday morning, leaving behind snowy roads, high winds, and falling temperatures.
The official total for the Twin Cities was 2.7 inches, but northern parts of the state were buried.
Baxter received 16 inches of snow, while Motley and Pillager each got 15 inches. Areas around Brainerd got between 13 and 14 inches of snow.
Closer to the St. Cloud area, Becker got three inches of snow; Buffalo recorded 3.2 inches; Sartell and Sauk Centre each got four inches. Clearwater and Rice got 4.5 inches of snow. Little Falls received five inches of snow.
Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings were posted for almost the entire state. Blizzard warnings are out for the north shore and Duluth.
Another one to three inches of snow is on the way for central Minnesota on Tuesday.
