(KNSI) – A Stearns County judge has convicted a woman of stabbing a man to death in St. Cloud. Lindsay Rae Shelltrack-Miller was found guilty of murder in the 2nd degree without intent in the death of Justin Allen Berge in April. A sentencing date hasn’t been set yet. The 41-year-old woman was convicted after a bench trial at the end of October in front of Judge Nathaniel Welte. The judge issued his ruling on Thursday.
On April 19th, 2021, Shelltrack-Miller called 911 and said she stabbed a man. She told investigators she got into an argument with Berge. She claimed he “came after her,” so she maced him. She said he continued to come toward her, so she pulled out a knife and stabbed him.
Police arrived on the scene and found the St. Cloud man in the alley behind the home. He was rushed to St. Cloud Hospital, where he died a short time later.
The criminal complaint says a video shows Berge running around his vehicle to get away from Shelltrack-Miller. He kept running through the alley as she pursued him. The footage showed Shelltrack-Miller latching onto the back of Berge. She ends up on the ground. As Berge is collecting items from the ground, Shelltrack-Miller is seen kicking him repeatedly and maces him. Berge is seen trying to restrain her. She is then seen reaching into a fanny pack, pulling out a knife, and stabbing Berge in the chest.
