(KNSI) – A mother in St. Cloud has been charged with killing her baby. Fardoussa Omar Abdillahi has been charged in Stearns County District Court with intentional murder in the second degree.

According to the criminal complaint, a man called 911 on November 28th to report that a three-month-old boy was missing, and the mother stated that she had thrown the baby in the dumpster. Police responded to the 2900-block of Maine Praire Road in St. Cloud and found Abdillahi crying and responding witnesses.

The witnesses told police that the 26-year-old woman had called her mother, who lives out of state, in the early morning hours and said she had killed her baby. The mother called the witnesses who came to the apartment to find the child. Witnesses were unsure at the time if the defendant was being truthful and called the police when they could not find the baby.

The complaint says that officers were searching the dumpster when Abdillahi stated she stabbed the baby and put him in a black plastic garbage bag before putting him in the dumpster. At the same time, officers found the body of a baby in the dumpster.

Investigators say they found multiple knives and bedding in the dumpster. The BCA Laboratory took the items for testing.

Abdillahi stated she experienced headaches and feelings of worry and fear after the birth of her child. She stated she was upset that the child’s father had denied the child was his. Investigators say Abdillahi stated she was looking at her child and wondering how she would get help. She says the child was crying before she stabbed him. Abdillahi showed investigators that she cut the child’s throat. She says she put the child into a black bag with baby clothes and put the bag into a trash bin in her apartment. Abdillahi says she brought the bag out to the dumpster about five minutes later.

Her bail was set at $2,000,000 without conditions or $1,000,000 with conditions. Her next court date is set for December 13th. Prosecutors have filed a notice to seek an aggravated sentence if there’s a conviction.
