(KNSI) – The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says a Melrose man was seriously injured in a crash Monday night in Millwood Township.

According to a press release, just before 6:30 p.m., a 911 call came in from someone who had discovered the single-vehicle rollover crash near an intersection. They stopped to check on the person, who they said appeared to have serious injuries.

When first responders arrived, they discovered a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by 26-year-old Jose Guadalupe Munoz-Munguia. Investigators say it appears the truck was going west on Upper Valley Road and swerved to avoid a deer. They said he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, entered the ditch, and rolled several times.

Munoz-Munguia was taken to Melrose Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
