(KNSI) — A Minneapolis man is under arrest after a violent outburst at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport.
The criminal complaint says about 3:10 a.m. November 12th, 44-year-old Frank Towers was seen on surveillance video punching and headbutting televisions before removing his clothing and touching himself. Around 4:10, he again stripped off his clothes but got dressed again before throwing a chair and then made contact with TSA agents in a skyway checkpoint and began screaming at them, saying he was going to kill them. He allegedly grabbed a stanchion line, started swinging it around, and eventually hurled it at the agents.
Airport police began to intervene, at which point, Towers allegedly said he didn’t have to stop because it was a free country. Officers then used a stun gun on him. Towers began flailing his arms around and took a swing at an officer but missed.
Additional help arrived and physically restrained him. They say he continued to struggle and fight as law enforcement tried to place Towers in handcuffs.
He was booked into the Hennepin County jail and charged with assaulting a police officer and threats of violence.
