(KNSI) – A man was arrested after allegedly leading law enforcement on a 22-mile chase beginning in Clear Lake and ending in St. Cloud.

The Becker Police Department says around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, an officer working a special DUI enforcement shift made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 10 and Main Avenue in Clear Lake.

While speaking with the driver, identified as 37-year-old Jeremy James Shoemaker from Loretto, the officer learned the driver had a felony warrant for his arrest on check forgery charges in McLeod County.

The officer said when they tried to arrest Shoemaker, he fled in his vehicle at a high rate of speed. According to a press release, a 22-mile chase ensued while driving from Clear Lake to southeast St. Cloud. The driver pulled into an apartment complex on the east side of St. Cloud and then fled on foot.

Officers with the Becker Police Department, St. Cloud Police Department, Big Lake Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office took Shoemaker into custody.

Shoemaker was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation and booked into the Sherburne County Jail on the felony warrant and could face other charges, including fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
