(KNSI) — Parts of Minnesota are in line for a wintery blast starting Thursday night.
The National Weather Service says snow will develop Thursday evening, and places like west-central Minnesota will see two to four inches of snow. Accumulations of one to two inches are likely across central Minnesota, but wind gusts of up to 45 miles an hour are expected on the back end of the system Friday morning. That could result in patchy blowing snow and minor travel headaches in some areas.
The winter weather advisory starts at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, including Stearns, Meeker, and McLeod Counties impacting St. Cloud, Litchfield, and Hutchinson. A winter storm watch is in effect for Alexandria, Morris, Willmar, and Redwood Falls. Far western Minnesota, including Big Stone and Traverse Counties, are under a blizzard warning.
There is another batch of snow possibly on the way late Saturday and Saturday night with additional light accumulation.
