(KNSI) – With Thanksgiving in two weeks, health officials say now is the time to plan for a safe get-together with friends and family as COVID-19 cases continue to rise. Minnesota Department of Health Director of Infectious Disease Kris Ehresmann says the virus is widespread in every Minnesota county.
“The highly contagious Delta variant is driving Minnesota’s COVID case numbers to an alarmingly high level. At the same time, with that in mind, we are encouraging all Minnesotans to think carefully about their holiday plans.”
Ehresmann says if you’re traveling, wear a mask in public even if you’re vaccinated. Students coming home for a holiday also need to ensure they’re not carrying COVID-19 before leaving campus.
“Testing and laying low before you go is also important for students returning from college for Thanksgiving. The best approach is to test a few days before you go home and if possible once you arrive at home.”
